AVRO Car
Is it a bird, a plane, or a flying saucer? It’s the AVRO Car! This wild VTOL aircraft, built in 1959 for a secret U.S. military project, looks straight out of a sci-fi flick. Two prototypes were made, aiming for speeds up to 190 mph, but the project stalled in 1961. Today, one rests at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, part of its collection since 2007.
